FACIAL MASKS FOR DRY SKIN

(NOTE: Completely Read All Recipe Instructions Before Doing)


ALSO NOTE: It is NOT advisable to use any drying treatment on skin that is either naturally dry or ageing. Egg white is particularly damaging, since it dries on the face and becomes a powerful astringent.
   Use fatty substances such as egg yolk as a spreader, and incorporate such agents as Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) oil or Wheat germ (Triticum vulgare) oil, Almond (Prunus dulcis) oil or Linseed (Linum usitatissimum) oil. Other ingredients such as Apple Malus spp) juice, Peach (Prunus persica) juice or Pear (Pyrus communis) juice, mixed with ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis) will help revitalize the skin by stimulating the pores to secrete more natural oils.


Yeast Facial Mask


1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon brewer's yeast
1 teaspoon Comfrey infusion (Symphytum officinale)
1 teaspoon milk or yoghurt
1 teaspoon Marigold infusion (Calendula officinalis)
1 teaspoon skin oil - this can be a favourite proprietary oil or Sunflower oil (Helianthus annuus), Avocado (Persea americana), Olive oil (Oka europaea) or Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) oil.

Combine the honey with a few drops of very hot water. This will thin the honey down and make it easier to use. Blend in the yeast, then add the milk or yoghurt and the herb infusions. Stir until it becomes a thick paste.
   Pat your face with the oil, and then spread a layer of the paste. Allow to set for approximately 15 minutes, then wash off with tissues and splash with lukewarm water.



Oatmeal Facial Mask

For dry skins, Oatmeal makes a nourishing and somewhat bleaching base when mixed with a favourite flower water - Rose-water, Elder flower-water, for example.
   Work the ingredients into a paste, then pat onto the face and neck. Allow to dry for up to 15 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water or clean off with tissues and pat with a damp face flannel.



Fruit Sundae Special Facial Mask


This is a recipe to try in the height of summer when there is a glut of your favourite fruit. Incorporate Strawberry (Fragaria vesca), Peach (Prunus persica), Water Melon (Citrullus lanatus), Pineapple (Ananas sativa) and Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) with or without the white of an egg and reduce all to a pulp in a blender or pestle and mortar. The flesh of the fruit should be as smooth as possible. Spread over the face and neck, relax for a few minutes, then wash off.
