Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Made Easy?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Made Easy

Search Engine Basics

(Note: The following information assumes that you have a basic knowledge creating a web page.)

Search engine marketing is just one of the many tools that Webmasters use to get an internet searcher's attention.
A search engine ranks internet sites according to it's programmed criteria (algorithms, filters).
The higher the ranking the closer to the top slot on the landing page (first page the search engine offers up) a website page gets listed. Note: A search engines' aim is to match as closely as it can the answer to the searchers' inquiry.
Most people don’t want to sort through pages of relevant or obscure books and indexes, etc. to try and locate the answer that they're seeking, hence they use a computer search engine and expect fast, pertinent (accurate) results.
AND they tend to choose the listings that are nearer to the top on the results' page or one of the listings on "that" page (people being inherently lazy will not look any further).
"Search Engine Optimization (SEO)" is how Webmasters make sure this happens ... or at least that's the goal; so the better the SEO score the more assured the Webmaster is at getting at least a first page listing.

In its simplest form, Search Engine Optimization is the use of "keywords" (keywords and phrases) that a search engine will look at in order to determine the content of a web page and then match it to a search inquiry.
"Keywords" is the initial main part of three parts that make up the SEO score:
Title score, Keywords score and Description score.

Three Main SEO Score Parts (The Breakdown)

As stated, there are three (3) main parts to the SEO.
Each part has its own score (0 - 100%); the average score of the three combined scores is the SEO score.

The breakdown:

1) The first is the "Title", which is the title of the website/web page (located in the "Head" section of the html page, i.e., My Page Title).
It's purpose is to convey what the website/web page is about.
Keep it simple, keep it to what exactly the website/web page is about!
Example: The 'title' to this web page about SEO is: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Made Easy.
(Its score is 100% because it is precisely what this page is about).
The "Title", as is, is also one piece of information displayed on the search engine results page! So, think of yourself looking for something and seeing 'your title' ... would it make you want to look further?! Note: I included (below) the links to three 'Meta Tag' checkers that will analyze your 'title' for its accuracy and SEO scoring.

2) Second, and most important, is "Keywords". The "Keywords" are placed after a 'Meta Tag' located in the "Head" section the page . They are like the category breakdown in the phone books' "yellow pages"; they help the search engine quickly determine what your website/web page is about .
What are the "buzz" words and or two/three word phrases most used throughout your website/web page content? The density (number of times used) not only determines the "keywords" you want to use but also their importance ... I always put the most used first in my list.
Note: Keep your keyword count to eleven (11) or less but more then six (6). The main search engines* (listed below) may penalize a website/web page for overkill or not enough info. AND separate each 'keyword/phrase' with a comma "," (Example:
Also, I included (below) the links to three high density 'keyword/keyword phrase' counting tools.

3) Third, the "Description", which is also placed following a 'Meta tag' in the page "Head" section.
The "Description", also, for the most part, shown on the search engines results page, is what the searcher scans to see if the site fits his/her inquiry. So, it is important that you are as concise as possible concerning the content of the website/web page.
Note: I also included (below) the links to three 'Meta Tag' checkers that will analyze your 'Description' for its accuracy and SEO scoring.

The "SEO Made Easy" Part

1) Complete your website (index) page or sub-domain page (stand alone web page, part of your site but with a different 'Title', etc.). Put in the 'Title', six (6) or more 'Keywords' (descriptive words you feel would apply) and the 'Description' you think would apply.

2) Then upload your website/web page to your server; view it to make sure everything looks good. (If there are some visible problems with your web page make note and correct that later).

3) Make note of your website/web page 'address' ... then access a "Meta Tag Checker Tool" listed below (or find one yourself).
Look at the score on each of your three key components. If the average combined score of the three is "90" or better be happy and leave everything be. Congratulations!
If not or you want to better that score go to the next step.

4) Again, make note of your website/web page 'address' then access a "Keyword Density Tool" listed below (or find one yourself). ( Note: I set the "phrase" word amount to "3"; this displays not only single word density but also two word and three word phrase density ).
Write down/make note or call-up your 'html page' and put into your "Keywords" Meta Tag all of the most used/listed words and phrases. Remember most used first and no more then eleven (11) single words or combination of words and phrases.
(You are now done with the "Keyword Density Tool" for this website/web page unless you change the content of the website or web page!)

5) Save the page and re-upload it. Repeat Step # 3.

6) If you find that one or both of the two remaining components' ('Title' and/or 'Description') score has changed (after adding to or changing the "Keywords") then rework these two components incorporating some of your most "dense" 'Keywords'.
Then repeat Steps # 3 and #5 until the combination of the three components is "90" or better.

Cap'n CyberZone Note: The better the SEO score the better the search engine can match you to a searchers' inquiry; this makes the searcher happy which makes the search engine happy which makes the website/web page owner happy.
If you are the website/web page owner and are running ads (such as the Google Adsense ads On This Page) you'll notice how relevant all the ads are to the page subject. Look around, at the ads, you will find some of the subject matter that's being offered-up helpful!
